XXX – Visit A Sex Shop! – A to Z of Things to do & Places to Visit in London
Take a walk on the wild side… go visit a Soho Sex shop. Not exactly a walk on the wild side, but hell it sounded good! In my humble wee opinion it is a must do activity taking a peek inside an old school sex shop in London’s famed vice area – – the more sleazy and seedy looking the better.
In fact most sex shops from the outside look like they haven’t changed since the 1960′s, kind of old fashioned, in a quirky way. They are quite safe to enter for a browse! Please do not mistake shops advertising peep shows as sex shops – you will end up ripped off and in fear for your safety… for gullible tourists only!
When I walked into a Soho sex shop… in the aid of research of course, I almost couldn’t believe the bewildering selection of bizarre outfits, toys, whips, chains, lubricants and of course porn DVD’s and magazines catering to every perversion imaginable! Those red furry hand cuffs I bought weren’t for personal use….HONEST!
The guy serving behind the counter looked like a real sleaze bag degenerate who probably lives in a dungeon with a harem of depraved woman! I declined the offer to buy some fake Viagra which was more expensive that the real stuff…I guess I looked like a gullible tourist!
Once upon a time London’s Soho area was a thriving vice area for a large part of the 20th century – brothels, prostitution, sex shops, peep shows, strip clubs, drugs and crime were what the area was renowned for. Nowadays you are more likely to find trendy bars, clubs, restaurants and shops. However there are still a few sex shops, strip shows, crooks, shady characters and of course the oldest profession in the world is still very much alive in Soho! You would have to be blind not to notice the seedier side of Soho, which you will be glad to hear is a fairly safe area to wander around in…
