Winter Wonderland London River Thames Walk Part 2
Winter Wonderland London River Thames Walk Part 2 is a continuation of Part 1, which can of course be visited by clicking the link … go on you know you want to!
The first part of the walk took me from Westminster Bridge to Blackfriars Bridge. I stood on Blackfriars Bridge and enjoyed the view towards the Eye and the Houses of Parliament. London was alive in the darkness … the bright city lights shone beautifully against the dark sky. I wish I had my African Princess next to me with a glass of the bubbly stuff, but alas she was working hard. We will return together to enjoy the view sometime soon…

On reaching the south bank of the River Thames I was tempted to pop into the Doggetts Coat & Badge pub for a swift pint or 2, but I decided to keep going. The South Bank is a hive of activity, there always seems to be plenty of people knocking about enjoying themselves – lovers out for a walk, friends enjoying life, buskers and of course blind cyclists – totally ban them from the South Bank that’s what I say and I mean the cyclists! ! And the views can be pretty good too…

Along the South Bank you will of course see St Paul’s looking magnificent in the night sky, and you will walk past iconic buildings such as the OXO Tower and The Globe Theatre
Along parts of this stretch of the Thames you really do feel like you have entered a magical Winter Wonderland, the trees lit up with their blue and white light are a beautiful sight. I don’t know why more people don’t take a walk along the wooden piers and enjoy the views along the river and back towards the South Bank.

For some of us … the Festive Season doesn’t begin until a couple of weeks before Santa Claus comes down the Chimney. I will save my excitement for a wee while yet, I don’t want to peek too soon! For those of you who like the Christmas Season to start early there are plenty of market stalls along the South Bank next to the National Theatre punting out the usual festive cheer!

I stopped off to watch the skateboarders doing their thing at the Skate Board Park … and almost got high from the smell of dope blowing in the wind! Yes indeed Mr Mayor!
I would recommend not only popping into Royal Festival Hall to have a wee peek of whatever exhibition they have on, but check out their outdoor ones as well … seek and ye shall find!
Journey’s end takes you finally to Westminster Bridge where it all began. Not a long walk, yet there is so much to see and explore.

A visual and historical feast awaits you on the Winter Wonderland London River Thames Walk. I personally prefer doing this walk at night when it is dark, it’s more atmospheric, London truly does come alive when the sky becomes dark and the lights go on!
