Wimbledon Betting Scam, Give Me A Fu**ing Break

Wimbledon Betting Scam, Give Me A Fu**ing Break

Like I do every morning I have a quick scan of the news online to see what’s happening in the world. I live in the 21st century and don’t bother with those trashy second rate so called newspapers that we have in the UK. In fact I barely even read those free ones that you get on the street, but they do however come in handy for squatting flies.

I better watch out after that last comment, I will have those losing the plot,  publicity seeking  animal rights activists, having a go at me for my inhuman treat of those loveable poor and extrmely friendly fleas, that are only tyring to become  my new best friend!

One particular article that I read with great interest this morning on MSN, had the headline of, Unusual Betting On Wimbledon Match. An online book maker, had noticed an unusual betting pattern and seemingly thought there could have be some fraudulent activity happening. What the bookie means here is, that they have lost a pile of money on the match, you cant have punters winning, it just isn’t fair!

I thought it must have been one of the top seeds getting thrashed by some unknown player. Not anywhere near as dramatic as that. Betfair the online bookmaker claimed that they had a flood of bets on Austrian number 26 seed Juergen Melzer during his straight-sets first-round victory over American Wayne Odesnik was “very visible. It was supposedly the biggest shock in the world that Melzer won and that there was a rush of bets on him to win.

Lets get the facts, Juergen Melzer is currently ranked 30 on the ATP tour and Wayne Odesnik is ranked 109 and is also carrying a ankle injury. Wow what an amazing shock that Jurgen Melzer who was ranked 26 for Wimbledon beat non seeded and injured Wayne Odesnik by the score of 6-1 6-4 6-2.

I think the recession must be kicking in and Betfair are in need of some publicity to drum up some business. I reckon one of there marketing gurus has come up with this bullshit to get there name out there, hell it is free advertising for them. It sure beats having to pay for it.

I cant believe that MSN are bothering to give a story like this, the time of the day on their site, they are almost getting as bad as the trashy UK tabloids. Wimbledon betting scam, give me a fu**ing break, the headline of the article on MSN, should have read Betfair Seeking Some Free Publicity as opposed to Unusual Betting On Wimbledon Match. The free publity that Betfair received off this story will more than make up for the few quid they lost on the match!
