Willesden Green Wassailing 2011
This years Willesden Green Wassail will be taken place on Sunday 23rd of January 2011, which is incidentally the second such event. If you are like me and you haven’t got a clue as to what Wassailing is all about, don’t ask me. That was my bad sense of humour kicking in once again. I know it’s a new year and I should be making a bigger effort to suppress it!
Wassailing is an ancient pagan English tradition to celebrate apples trees and hope for a good harvest. I have never personally been to such an event before, so I’m going to do my best to be there to experience it for myself. The Willesden Green Wassail event will feature a mixture of new and old traditions, including a variety of singers, rappers, poets and storytellers who be doing there thing to bring the event to life.
The event kicks off at Willesden Green Tube station at 2.30pm sharp, followed by a procession to Willesden Library and the apple tree which was planted outside there last year. Followed by food, drink and conversation with new friends…
