It is so dam hot in London today, that I can hardly breath properly and my body is covered in sweat and unfortunately my condition is not from an hour of fun with my African Princess, but from the heat wave that we are currently having here.
Whoever says the weather is always miserable and there are never any blue skies in London , they are truly crazy. It is so hot at the moment, that I feel like I almost need to head to the nearest hospital for some oxygen, but I probably wouldn’t make it in time and the sky is a kinda shade of blue!
I never realised it got this hot in London, back home in the North East of Scotland, the temperature very rarely goes above 70ºF. I don’t think it is just the heat itself that is getting to me, it is the lack of any sort of breeze and the fact that the temperature is stifling.
I was living in Barbados for 9 months before I arrived in London on my travels and as you can imagine it gets pretty hot in the Caribbean. But over there I could usually handle the heat no problem at all. If things ever got too hot, we just jumped in the car and headed to the beautiful Caribbean Sea or the Atlantic Ocean for a cooling dip. Oh how I miss the cool waters of Barbados!
I however don’t fancy jumping in the Thames, it isn’t the most inviting looking water I have ever seen. If you were to swallow some of that water, you would have very serious health problems, that’s for sure.
I think I have found the perfect cure to the problem of overheating in London. I just need to find the energy to go to the shop across the road to buy a 6 pack of Heineken, stick them in the freezer for an hour. Then later on this afternoon I will head to the Queens Park to enjoy the London heat wave, with my ice cold lager and enjoy the weather before it disappears.
Who says the weather is always miserable in London, YEAH RIGHT!

My advice, based on personal experience is that you get the hell out of London and come up to Scotland, not because of the weather but quality of life,— its hot here too but a pleasant cool breeze blowing in from the North sea is reducing the humidity.
At this moment in time the quality of life in London for me is amazing, this city is buzzing, I truly love the being here and the adventure of being away from home. Living in a city with such an amazing mix of different nationalities and cultures is a fantastic experience.
I know all about the quality of life in Aberdeen and Scotland, I lived there for 30 something years. Maybe more Scots need to get out into the big bad world and experience life out with the comfort and normality of home. I will return home one of these days to live, but that day is a long, long way off.
Tell you something, I do miss a few things from back home in Aberdeen, but one thing I have always hated all my life, is that dam North Sea breeze, it use to almost kill me in the winter time. But I must admit I wouldn’t mind some of it now…..
When the day comes and I have had enough of London, I plan on heading to Africa to experience life over there and then probably back to the Caribbean. I want to carry on travelling and experiencing life in other countries, while I still have the energy and good health to do so.
For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. the great affair is to move. Robert Louis Stevenson
l had no idea that you were a Scot….ln that case get yourself off to Cape town in SA, yes it gets very hot in the summer but the prevailing “south easter” cools the air a bit. Quality of life is even better than Scotland,—l know because l lived there for 20years.
I have heard a lot of good things about Cape Town and it is definitely a place that I have on my too visit list. That’s if I survive this heat wave in London.
A few years ago, back home in Aberdeen I went out with a girl from Cape Town and oh boy was she hot.
It was so hot in London on Thursday, that I was wishing I was back home at Aberdeen beach and swimming in the North Sea, and that is saying something because last year when I dipped my toes in it, they turned blue from the cold.
