Wear Your Football Shirt To Work Day Back England’s World Cup Bid

Wear Your Football Shirt To Work Day Back England’s World Cup Bid

I woke up this morning ready, able and willing to support England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup. Today marks the 100  days point  until FIFA choose, which country is going to have the honour and privilege of hosting the world cup in 8 years time.

Earlier on this morning I was out and about wearing my Aberdeen football away shirt with pride, as I offered my support to England’s efforts to host the world cup. What is wrong with you Londoners, I only seen about 10 people all morning wearing their football shirts and 2 of those were Celtic supporters! What’s going on? Even if you are not English and you are living in this country, get your football shirt on and show some respect and support!

It may seem strange to some that a Scotsman is supporting England’s bid to host the 2018 world cup, however I’m doing it because I’m hopeful that Scotland will be part of it. I can just imagine how amazing it would be to attend Scotland world cup games in England with the huge support we would have behind us. It would be a truly amazing experience, which would be a once in a life time occasion…the buzz would be unreal.

Hopefully when England win the right to host the world cup in 8 years time, it will reignite Scotland as a footballing nation. Surly the prospect of playing in World Cup Finals so close to home with all those amazing fans behind them will have the players performing with more believe, passion and skill. One can only hope!

I have never personally had the chance to experience the atmosphere, buzz and excitement of attending a world cup live and I couldn’t think of better place to experience it for myself than in England. Sepp Blatter has being saying good things about England’s ability to host a successful world cup, which is promising. I guess at the end of the day, whatever country is chosen to host the 2018 competition, it will probably be about who manages to grease the correct grubby palms with the most money!

The 2nd of December is the D-Day for the FIFA cronies choosing which country is going win the rights to host the 2018 world cup. If things are all above board, I can’t personally see how England’s bid can fail. England has got it all, the stadiums, the infrastructure and true football fans. The only thing that England hasn’t got, is a hope in hell of winning the world cup, but I’m sure if they are successfull in their world cup bid, the players and media will be telling us every single day for the next 8 years how they are going to win it! Yawn…yawn…yawn!

  1. You are absolutely right! There’s nothing like attending World Cup live! I was part of the red-clad crowd in Korea in 2002. It was amazing!!! We just LIVED World Cup the whole time it was on! There was dancing in the streets at 2 a.m. Some kids got their instruments and created a band on the spot, just astounding! An elderly gentleman who remembered the liberation of Korea from its 35-year occupation by Japan said that was the only thing he could compare to it. It was bigger than the ’88 Olympics, he said!
