Walking With Fear Along The Mean Streets Of London
It was around 11pm last night when I decided to go for a wee wander around the mean and dark streets of Kilburn, as I sought some inspiration for the book I’m currently writing. Last night I crossed paths with the Thai woman walking with fear in her heart.
I had just turned onto Victoria Road when I noticed the police car, blocking the road with its blue light flashing like crazy – they had stopped a teenager on a Vespa. Nothing new or exciting going on there!
About 20 feet in front of me on the opposite side of the road I noticed a little Thai woman in her 30′s come out of a flat. She looked up and down the street and then started walking along the dimly lit pavement heading towards Kilburn High Road. She was tiny, it looked like a strong gust of wind would blow her away.
Ms Tiny Thai Woman glanced behind her and looked at the shadowy, sinister looking stranger fast approaching behind her. He was in fact a jogger out for a night time run. In the blink of an eye the woman was suddenly walking on the Road, she obviously felt safer having the parked cars between her and the man. When the man well past her, she started walking on the pavement again. I thought how strange is that.
I crossed over to Ms Tiny Thai Woman’s side of the road and she did the same thing, she quickly moved herself past the parked cars and onto the road. Again I thought how strange. I wanted to tell her don’t be afraid…I’m not crazy, I wont hurt you…it’s me William K Wallace the infamous blogger seeking inspiration. I wanted to thank her for being the inspiration!
As I walked past the woman I glanced over at her, and as our eyes met …a huge hand appeared out of nowhere and covered her mouth, she was bundled into a van in a split second. I made the last bit up…of course I did.
Ms Tiny Thai Woman was walking with real fear along the mean streets of London. Why was she so afraid of the footsteps, what did she have to be so afraid of…those questions shall remain unanswered…until that is Sherlock Holmes answers my email. I’m sure he will solve it in a jiffy…
