View From a Wee Hill: London Picture of the Day

Saturday’s London Walkabout was meant to begin with me getting off the number 31 bus and then walking 10 minutes to the top of London’s poshest hill, Primrose Hill to enjoy the magnificent views. However… I never noticed that this particular 31 wasn’t going all the way to Camden, but in fact, it was only going as far as Swiss Cottage. Quite a few of the other passengers clearly made the same mistake, there were a lot of people cussing! The 10 minute walk, became 25 minutes… no big deal!

This was my first visit to Primrose Hill since the mighty 1016 feet tall Shard, London’s latest monster high rise building had been completed. I was keen to see how the mighty glass and steel structure fitted into the London skyline from a afar. It sticks out like a sore thumb!

The views sure are a hell of lot cheaper from Primrose Hill, than the ones from the viewing area of the Shard: Free versus… a sky high £24.95! I will go for the free view every time. The money I saved was spent on a delicious Italian ice cream, a fantastic bag of African coffee, followed by a couple of pints of cask ale and a tasty pork bap and I still had more than 5 quid change left over…
