The Yorkshire Grey – Sam Smith’s Quest Round 14

The Yorkshire Grey – Sam Smith’s Quest Round 14

The Yorkshire Grey looks like an inviting pub form the outside – an attractive frontage with green exterior paintwork, frosted glass windows, hanging baskets and planters full of flowers make for a pretty picture. After pounding the streets of London Town for endless  hours  I was in need of a pint or two and Sam Smiths came to the rescue once again…

The Yorkshire Grey on Langham Street sits a short walk from the madness of Oxford Street and on Saturday afternoon it was a perfectly chilled out bar for enjoying a few leisurely drinks. In the main bar there must have been about 6 or 7 punters and 4 of us in the back seated area – which are separated by Snob Screens. I have heard that during the week it can get really busy with the after work crowd!

The main bar area is your typical old school Sam Smith’s layout, and is a fairly smallish area. The even smaller seated area at the back is my kinda place for a relaxing drink. Comfortable leather seating, old fireplace and old black and white BBC related pictures on the walls – the BBC Broadcasting house is located nearby. There is also an upstairs lounge area which I never had a chance to check out…

I haven’t got any gripes… not even a little one about the Yorkshire Grey. Good service, tables were clean, nice atmosphere and Old Brewery Bitter on handpump which tasted as it should! I like this pub… I like it a lot. A great place for a relaxing drink away from the maddening crowds of Oxford Street…

The Yorkshire Grey was pub number 14 on my Quest to drink in every Sam Smith’s pub in London… maybe I will stop the Quest now and just drink in the Yorkshire Grey from now on!

  1. You must have really liked this place if you’re thinking about stopping your quest. I doubt you’ll stop though as you are an explorer.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  2. Looks like a decent pint and a proper pub. I will look it up next time I find myself needing to get away from the wifes latest Oxford Street shopping spree.

  3. Comedy Plus, I loved this bar…the Quest must go on though!

David, it is indeed…and it worth checking out for sure…

  4. I first heard about the Yorkshire Grey when I read the Danny Wallace book “Yes Man” it was his local. It can get crazily busy after work.

  5. Brian, I have read the book and I had forgotten about that. I don’t think I would be so impressed with the place if it was heaving with people…
