The Tower Bridge Experience
After I had made it down in one piece from the Monument yesterday afternoon, I took a stroll along the banks of the River Thames to visit the Tower Bridge Exhibition. I had of course bought a ticket for a bargain £8, which allowed me to visit both the Monument and Tower Bridge.
Tower Bridge is one of the most photographed attractions in London. In fact in the 30 minutes that it took me to walk to the Bridge from the Monument, I was asked to take photographs for 3 different people. I must have looked like the least likely person to run off with your camera.
I have gawped in wonder at Tower Bridge countless times, photographed it many times and walked over it a few times, but I had never visited it before. So I suppose I was like a wee kid as I walked up the stairs of the worlds most famous bridge.
I was kind of fed up with stairs but at least there wasn’t as many as there had been at the Monument. I eventually fought my way past the Indian family that were having a breather half way up. I guess they probably had been to the Monument and were still feeling the effects of it.
The Tower Bridge Exhibition is a good wee tour. It is was interesting to find out about the history of the bridge, as well as the views from the upper walk way were pretty good and getting the opportunity to visit the old engine room made it a worth while tour.
It sure was a fun being a tourist again for an afternoon and getting the opportunity to visit two of London’s most historic attractions in the Monument and Tower Bridge. I headed back to the Monument and to a pub I noticed beside it, which was selling Carling Lager for £2.35 a pint, now that was too good an offer to pass up.

Our ‘Harbour Bridge’ here in Auckland (New Zealand) is not as beautiful, but it’s one of the places we visit during our city tour!
