Hi Nigel bailey, I'm from Huddersfield too and my unkle used to work in emley moor mast but I didn't know you could go up it and have a look :-) Lived in Portsmouth for a while where you can go up the MASSIVE spinnaker tower and look out over the harbour and sea. I have to say though that London is wher its at! Been here a few years now and can't imagine living anywhere else in UK without getting well bored pretty quick. And they're now building that 'needle' thing down near london bridge.

Emley Moor

Emley Moor Tower, Emley, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Height of mast 330.4 metres (1,084 ft)
This is substantially talller than any structure in London and has a lift that takes nearly 8 minutes to get up. The veiw on top of the hill which is afurther 800 feet or 240mtrs is outstanding veiws oveer the dark peak and south and north poennines and across to the east looking out to Eggborough FerryBridge and Drax . Anyway dont know how relevant this is but wanted to mention it.

The London eye is hugely popular but to be honest when I went on it I was really disappointing, it is way too long and although the views are good, i think its really over rated.

I lived in London for 6 years, I think that London is not just cool, is one of the coolest city I ever seen .
As you mentioned,London isn’t a city overrun with skyscrapers instead there are amazing Victorian buildings and houses.
The building you mentioned that I like most is the London Eye:from there you can enjoy an amazing 360 view.
