The Strike Force Of The London Tubes

The Strike Force Of The London Tubes

It is strike time again on the London tubes, which is causing untold misery for the people of London once again. I suppose it is nothing knew in London for the underground staff to be on strike again, and I suppose the people of London should be use to it and prepared for it again.

This latest strike is so dam confusing because I was expecting the whole London tube network to be down. But it seems that the London Underground staff are members of two different unions, the RMT who’s members are on strike and the ASLE who are not supporting the strike. This makes things  even more confusing because these two unions are  usually united, when it comes to stike action.

The latest strike is supposedly over a pay deal, issues with compulsory redundancies and the demand for the reinstatement of two drivers who were sacked over disciplinary issues. Nothing new there I suppose!

From a personal point of view I haven’t got an issue with the unions or the need to strike, when there is no other way forward. But it seems that it is such  a  regular occurrence for the London Underground staff to be on strike, that things need to be seriously investigated by the Mayor himself. I have heard numerous claims of management bullying  and  these claims have been made countless times, which makes me think there is some substance in them.

Maybe Boris Johnson needs to get out and about and actually talk and listen to the London Underground workers on a personal basis. He may then have a better understanding of the issues and problems that the workers are facing, which seemingly includes, unscrupulous, uncaring and bad management practices. It is after all the 21st century and all workers have a right to voice their onions and have a right to decent and safe working conditions.

Lets face it, if it wasn’t for the Unions there would be plenty of companies and organisations out there that would be treating there employees like they were modern day slaves. In fact it happens in plenty of work places all over the UK, which don’t allow the Unions to operate for very obvious reasons. They don’t want to give there staff somewhere to turn to when they have very legitimate grievances against the management.

I had to laugh at the Iranian girls that were whingeing on about the strikers this morning. Well girls that’s the difference between the British and so many other countries in the world. We have a right to voice our own opinions and we can do so without fear of persecution or the threat of violence against us. That’s why this country is called Great Britain and not just plain old Britain. That why Iran, is just called Iran and not Great Iran!

Now Boris get on with your job and sort out the chaos, caused by the London Underground strike. For a change do something radical and listen to, not just the management but the workers as well. I know it may be a little bit too forward thinking for you, but never the less give it a go!
