The Plan Went Horrible Wrong Again, But…

Once again the plan went horrible wrong and my journey around Oxford Circus and Soho had been a waste of my precious time. However, thankfully at least the Christmas lights on Carnaby Street were an impressive sight… so much better than those on nearby Regent Street and Oxford Street! And me being me… I had a back up plan!

It was Saturday evening and I had been on the hunt for a pub selling Orkney, Dark Island ale. Whilst doing a wee bit of research I discovered that the Nicholson’s chain of pubs had my favourite ale down as one of their 25 Christmas ales for the festive season, in fact they had it down as one of their top 5 brews: good choice! So… the plan was to have a wee wander around and hopefully one of their boozers would have what I was looking for…

I walked out of Oxford Circus Station full of optimism that I would soon be enjoying my favourite brew. Thirty minutes later, after popping into 5 Nicholson pubs I still hadn’t found what I was looking for. Plan B involved me jumping on various trains for my new destination, ever so trendy Hoxton – yawn, yawn, yawn – to the Eagle pub, which I knew had Dark Island on tap on the previous evening… well according to twitter it had!

The crowds of people on Carnaby Street were annoying me, I was in rush… thankfully there was a happy ending, the Eagle did indeed have Dark Island ale on pump.

The plan went horrible wrong again, but…every cloud has a silver lining!
