The London Eye Is It A Modern Marvel

The London Eye Is It A Modern Marvel

You cannot get away from the fact,  that The London Eye or the Millennium Wheel as it is also known is a major landmark, as well as being a massive tourist attraction in London.

Believe it or not over 30 million people have taken a ride on it, since it opened in March 2000, that is an amazing amout of people.

I have never personally been on the Eye myself, it just doesn’t excite me enough to make me want to part with my money to take a ride on it. But there is no getting away from the fact,  that it  is a majestic site on the skyline.

The London Eye, which is located on the South Bank of the River Thames, stands at 135 metres or if you prefer 443 feet in height and it is currently the third biggest Ferris wheel in the world. The Ferris wheel in Pairs, which I have been on is a wee tiddler in comparison and stands at  a mere 80m or 264 feet. As we all know the French are as always behind the Brits in everything that they do.

For me The London Eye most definitely isn’t a modern marvel, all it is a big ferries wheel, nothing too exciting or marvellous about that! On the other hand, it maybe is a lot more! I suppose you could say that it is a modern icon of London, much like the Eiffel Tower is a icon in Paris and likewise the Empire State Building is in New York. Where normal people can go and get an amazing and unique birds eye view of the city. Maybe the Eye is a modern marvel after all.

I personally feel that the Eye looks its best and most impressive, late at night when it is real dark and the thing is all lit up. It does look rather good and dare I say it, quite a romantic setting, especially if you are standing on the opposite bank with your partner.

I think I have just talked myself into taking a ride on The London Eye, I suppose,  I now have to figure out, how to find the best deal that I can get for 2 tickets. It is a recession after all and there has to be a deal or two going about?
