One of the perks of owning London’s coolest and most original blog, is the fun adventures that I occasionally get to go on. Saturday was one of those days, when I got to go and hang out on the infamous London Necrobus, courtesy of Ghost Bus Tours, as they embarked on their promotional efforts for the number one ghost tour in all of London.
I made my way to the Necrobus company depot, late on Saturday morning to meet the dastardly and sinister looking driver of the bus and the rather unhinged bus conductor, whom I had to remind myself were actors, or where they? As I approached the amazing looking 1966 Routemaster bus, my nerves, which are normally made of steel were instantly put on edge as I noticed the curtains were all shut.
The Necrobus use to be a private funeral bus and I knew from reading the company web site, that in the old days, the curtains were always drawn when a coffin was stored on the bus. This was based upon the superstition that a departed spirit might be trapped by its own reflection in the glass and would not be able to pass on to the other world. The closed curtains could only mean one thing, that there was a coffin with a dead body aboard. I was just about to turn and head back to the safety and comfort of my bed, when the curtains started to mysteriously open all by themselves. I later found out the resident bus ghost likes to sleep with them shut!
It was a real pleasure and buzz riding around the streets of London on my own private ghost bus tour, this bus is a real head turner and quite rightly so, because it looks amazing. I personally experienced the Ghost Bus Tour myself, the other night and it is a truly original and fun tour to go on, which I would definitely recommend.
We eventually arrived at the intended destination of the Necrobus and on this occasion, it wasn’t anything as exciting as ghost hunting or anything from London’s ghoulish past, but The Village Fete, at London South Bank University, Southwark campus. Which, despite the crap weather, was never the less a fantastic afternoon of entertainment, fun and music.
As you can imagine the Ghost Bus was an attention grabber and the kids absolutely loved it and I also could tell that plenty of adults were just as excited as they looked around the bus. I know how they felt because, I for one cant wait to board the Ghost Bus and go on another ghostly adventure, Yikes! Get yourself on the Ghost Bus tour this summer and if you like a bargain, from looking at the web site Kids currently go free on a Wednesday.
