Quote From the Favourite Son of Kilburn

Walking down to Kilburn Park Station yesterday afternoon I was greeted by loads of police officers and their vans parked everywhere, and even worse the gates of the station were firmly closed shut. When I heard that someone had been struck my a train, I didn’t really care too much about the fact I was going to be late… there are more important things in life to worry about!

Taking a slow walk back up to the High Road to catch a bus, I stopped and grabbed a picture of the famous quote made my the legendary favourite son of Kilburn, the 2012 Tour de France Winner and multiple Olympic gold medal winning cyclist Bradley Wiggins, which was on the hoardings of the apartments that are being built.

The developers are trying to make the areas sound cooler than it is… good luck to them, they are going to need it. I like the grittiness and ruggedness of Kilburn, but in 10-15 years time most of the social housing will be knocked down and the poor and working classes shipped out: that’s just my humble opinion! Don’t say I didn’t tell you so…

Hopefully the kids and even the adults living in Kilburn will feel inspired by the the triumphs of Wiggo, and go on and do great things themselves… and great doesn’t mean just winning medals or races…
