In follow up to yesterdays pictures of London taken by me the honourable William K Wallace the man with the plan, as promised here we have the black and white version of the same pictures. I thought it would be interesting to compare them and see how different things look in black and white as opposed to in colour.
I may not be the most technically gifted photographer out there and I never will be. But I feel that I occasionally take pictures that capture a moment perfectly. My aim when I take pictures is to try and capture the mood perfectly and speak to the viewer in a positive and thoughtful way. In my view too many people get caught up in all the technicalities of photography, without having any heart and soul, which is vital when trying to be creative.
I have came across too many so called expert photographers who have read every book on how to take the perfect picture and who know the ins and outs of every setting of their expensive digital camera, as well as how to manipulate them with Photoshop, but more often than not their efforts turn out to be motionless and flat. They may be able to take technically perfect pictures, the lightening may be perfect the composition may be spot on, but more often than not they fail to capture any kind of feeling or emotion.
Looking through my black and white pictures and comparing them to the colour ones, I feel that some of them look entirely different and some lend themselves better to being of a certain colour. Be cool, stay cool and above all else think cool….
