Picture of the Year 2011 – Slacklining on Brighton Beach
Today is of course the last day of 2011…another year has past by in the blink of an eye. I hope everyone has had as great a year as me, yours truly, the host of London Is Cool the Wandering Scotsman. During the past 12 months I have taken thousands of photographs – a few were great, some were good and many were quickly deleted. After a lot of deliberation and thought the Picture of the Year for 2011 is a stunning, atmospheric picture which I captured of a group of friends Slacklining on Brighton Beach.
It was a slightly chilly March afternoon. The bracing air was awash with the fresh smell of the North Sea. It really was a good place to be. I was truly having the time of my life as I walked along the near deserted shingle beach for over three hours. And I could have quite easily carried on walking for another three hours but alas I had a bloggers event to attend at 6pm.
Brighton Beach doesn’t even come close to being one of the prettiest beaches I have walked along, however on that particular day with the sun partially concealed behind the clouds and those Slackliners doing their thing I feel that I have captured a magical moment in time. A picture which I’m truly proud of…
