Picture of the Week From Barbados – Blast From The Past

What a miserable kind of week it has been this week in London. Summer seems so far away – grey skies, rain and the occasional bit of sunshine, which arrives to fool us into thinking that it’s time to put away our umbrellas and rake out the shorts and suntan cream.

During a journey on an overcrowded, boiling hot tube on Tuesday morning I dreamt of being stranded on a Deserted Island … wishful thinking, I know. Anyway the way the world is at the moment I would probably end up kidnapped by some crazed terrorist and held for ransom! This weeks Picture of the Week, is a real blast from the past which wasn’t captured on a deserted island, but the beautiful Caribbean Island of Barbados.

My almost ten month long stay on Barbados was coming to an end. The flight was booked, and I was spending my last few weeks staying at the Rostrevor Hotel down on St Lawrence Gap, taking things easy before I decided where I was going to live when I came back to the UK. Would I head back home to bonny Scotland, or to London Town.

Whilst wandering around St Lawrence Gap one morning, marvelling at how quiet the Barbados party area was compared to the night before. I use to really love the Gap, the bars, clubs, restaurants, food stalls, Dover Beach – amazing vibe, a truly fantastic place to be.

Right in the heart of St Lawrence Gap, a minutes walk from the Rostrevor Hotel and located next to Dover Beach there is a huge deserted plot of land, which was where I captured the picture I’m featuring today. The guy in the boat had just dropped off a couple of tourists at the little beach in front of their apartment block.

Picture of the Week From Barbados has me wanting to go for dip in the Caribbean Sea … or I would even settle for some London sunshine, but once again the rain is lashing down…

  3. Mo, 10 months ended up being a long time. There is a lot of down sides to living in Barbados. It isn’t a great place to live, but it is a good place for a 2 or 3 week holiday.
