Parliament Square Such A Great Place To Voice Your Opinion

Parliament Square is renowned as a place of protest, a place where those that have a political opinion, set up stall to gather support for their particular cause.

I should have done my own protest one against greedy and corrupt politicians, councillors and bankers in the UK but I had a hot date waiting for me. Which is so much more important and interesting.

Each and every time I walk past Parliament Square it always grabs my attention. And especially so on Saturday afternoon, as there seemed to be so many different groups trying to gain publicity for their particular cause. Parliment Square sure was a hive of activity.

As I was taking a few pictures I overheard an American tourist saying to his agreeing wife, that they should all be rounded up and thrown in jail. I thought it was a strange thing to come out of the big mouth of an American. I thought America prided itself upon the right of freedom and free speech. Maybe not.

I think I have the answer, some Americans mean by free speech is that you have to agree with everything that your President and Government tells you. You are not allowed to disagree or have your own voice. Thankfully there are still plenty of Yanks out there that haven’t been brainwashed and live in the real world.

One of the things that makes Britain a great country to live in, is that we are allowed to voice our opinion, without the threat of violence, death or being sent to jail. Unlike many of those protesting whom I sure if they were to go back to their  own country they wouldn’t be openly protesting for very long.

I think it is a good thing that people can stand outside the Houses of Parliament in London and protest in safety. I however noticed a couple of sinister looking individuals taken pictures of some of the protesters. I’m sure a report will have been hastily sent back to Iran!

I was half expecting to see some protesting bankers crying on about the injustices of not getting paid enough bonuses. That really would have been too much, I would have started a one man riot.

I’m not saying that I personally agree or disagree with any of those protesting at Parliament Square, but what I do know is that they should all be allowed to voice their opinion. However, sometimes the sheep is dressed in wolfs clothing!
