Notting Hill Carnival What An Amazing Buzz
The Sun was shinning bright, the vibrant sounds of calypso, soca, and the steel pans were blasting out all day long at the Notting Hill Carnival 2009 on bank holiday Monday. The streets around Notting Hill in London were packed to capacity and there were there were smiles everywhere, whether it was people jumping with the carnival or spectators
I was at Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday, which was a slightly more sedate affair and a lot less busy. But I couldn’t resists heading back on Monday and I sure wasn’t disappointed. This time I was fully prepared for the occasion. I had my Mount Gay Rum mixed with energy drink and I was ready to party. I also couldn’t help but notice that some of the participants were drinking one of my favourite lagers, called Carib. I need to find out where to buy the stuff in London.
Events like Notting Hill Carnival show how the world as human beings are meant to get along, every colour of skin and nationality happily mixed together having fun and enjoying themselves. I had read online not so long ago, that some white guys were complaining that they didn’t feel welcome at previous events and were advising people not to go. I get the feeling that those guys have probably never even attended the Carnival in their miserable life’s.
Notting Hill Carnival 2009 was a fun packed couple of days, and the atmosphere was nothing buy joyous, which I suppose disappoints all those that hide in their cellars predicting and hoping for the demise of this fantastic event. Notting Hill Carnival has being growing bigger and bigger ever since it first began in 1964 and from the crowds at yesterdays event Mayor Boris maybe needs to think about making the route even larger to accommodate all the people!
