Notting Hill Carnival Is Coming To Town

Notting Hill Carnival Is Coming To Town

Notting Hill Carnival the biggest and best street festival in Europe, will be taking over the streets of West London this coming Bank Holiday weekend – 28-30 August. Over 1,000,000 people from all over the world will be in town to enjoy the amazing spectacle that the Notting Hill Carnival is.

Over 20 miles of ornate floats, blasting out near deafening music, along with thousands of revellers dressed up in colourful costumes and 100′s of stalls selling food and drink from the Caribbean is what the Notting Hill Carnival is all about.

The Notting Hill Carnival has been parading along the streets of Notting Hill from way back in 1966 and since it’s inception it has grown into the most exciting, flamboyant and fun event of the year in London. The Carnival is one big party, where the sights, sounds and smells of the Caribbean really do take over West London. The atmosphere at this event really is something else and after experiencing it all for the first time last year, there is no way I will miss this years event.

Saturday 28th, the Carnival gets going with ‘Panorama’, which is an event where Britain’s leading steelbands compete for the title of Notting Hill Carnival Champions of Steel. I personally love the sweet sounds of the steel pans and cant wait to experience this wonderful spectacle of light and sound for myself.

Sunday 29th, is the ‘Children’s Carnival’, which is when the younger ones become masqueraders and get the the chance to show off their costumes. I attended this event last year and it really is good fun and a lot less crowded than the main Carnival on Monday.

Monday 30th, Notting Hill Carnival comes to climax  with the ‘Adult’s Carnival’, which is going to be jam packed with all the different bands, floats and masqueraders who combine to create a heady mix of craziness…

I know there are going to be thousands of you coming to the Notting Hill Carnival from out of town and ‘London Is Cool’ has discovered a fantastic money saving deal that will save you a few quid. 1. William,

I’ve been to Notting Hill and did like the publice market itself that sells souvenirs, antiques and many more.

I wish, I could go there again and would be happy to see the celebration per se.

    Yours,

    Vicky

  2. If it’s anything like the previous times, it’s gonna be real chaotic. Heard that the Boris bikes will be removed and residents will be barricading their windows.

It’ll be riotous fun for non-residence though. Do post some pictures if possible!

  3. At least for the residents living on the route, they are going to have a good view. And if they didn’t move the Boris bikes, they wouldn’t be there the next day I’m sure of that.

If all goes well I should have plenty of good pics….
