Nature Close Up And Personal In Crazy London Town
London is a city that is a teaming mass of humanity…people everywhere, crowded tubes, traffic jams on virtually every road you turn down and constant noise. The constant noise of people talking, shouting, arguing, laughing, screaming and singing. Car horns honking all the time, police sirens blasting out 24 hours a day, it sometimes seems like London is never silent.
London is nothing but a concrete and glass jungle in the eyes of those that never open their eyes! But for those of us that live and love life in the Big Smoke we are well aware that this city has thousands of acres of green spaces all the over place – including Royal Parks, secret gardens, ancient graveyards and quiet stretches of the River Thames and canals where it is easy to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life.
This morning I was in need of some fresh air, peace and quiet, which can only mean one thing when I’m at home in Kilburn, a trip to Paddington Old Cemetery.
Kilburn Old Cemetery may be full of thousands of dead people, but there is an abundance of life happening there. I was sitting relaxing on the park bench when I noticed a couple of green coloured birds sitting on the branch in front of me. I wondered what they were, that was the first time I had noticed them. There was a a couple of squirrels jumping around doing whatever it is they do, hunt for nuts I guess!
From less than a foot away I watched a bee collecting some nectar from wild flowers, it went into each of the five flowers, done the business and buzzed off. I must admit I felt like I was close up and personal with nature. It was a wondrous site that chilled me out big time.
Life in London may be manic and crazy at times, but it truly doesn’t take much effort to escape from the madness for a little bit and get back to nature for a little chilling out session!
