My Favourite 12 Pictures On London Is Cool 2011: 1 to 6

During 2011 I have had a lot of fun enjoying myself in London as tourist who just happens to live in London! Is that so strange! A tourist in his adopted city.

I have met too many born and bred Londoners, as well as ex-pats and people from all over the UK who have made London their home who don’t do anything or go anywhere. I find it amazing that people who class themselves as Londoners have never stood on Primrose Hill and enjoyed the view of the city they call home, visited any of the free world class museums, went for a walk along the historic and beautiful Regent’s Canal, or even went to Notting hill Carnival, to name but few examples…I could go on and on!

Looking back on 2011 I have enjoyed bloggers events at fancy 5 star hotels and so called cool bars and restaurants, but give me a walk along the River Thames or a beautiful sunset from Waterloo Bridge or Parliament Hill any day of the week.

I have walked a few thousand miles getting into the heart and soul of London, discovering new places and things along the way. You wont catch me pounding the streets with a guide book in my hand or going on tours I normally just like to walk and see where my nose leads me.

Each and every day I step out of my front door I feel the buzz and excitement of living in one of the most vibrant, historic, crazy and fucked up cities in the world. No city is perfect and London sure as hell isn’t. The politicians have long since stopped caring about normal working class people, the rich have got greedier and the press have become corrupted…I guess that’s what happens when powerful ego manics are allowed to own too many newspapers and the journalists start caring about a wage packet more so than the truth!

Waterloo Bridge Sunset: It was slightly chilly March afternoon when stood on Waterloo Bridge for around an hour watching the sun slowly set. I will never forgot the experience, not only because of the beautiful sunset, but because I had forgotten to take my gloves and my hands were frozen to the bone…

North West London Sunset: I captured this stunning picture a few weeks ago of the most beautiful natural sight I have witnessed in London. The sky looked stunning.

Another Protest: I was out and about on a student protest against the Governments cuts to education and services. I wasn’t going to go on this protest but as soon as our Prime Minister David Cameron and his press buddies started harping on that plastic bullets could be used if there was any trouble I decided I had to join the march.

Wow: Not the best picture I have ever taken, my camera just couldn’t handle the lighting when I was at the Boom Boom Club event which was held in the dark and murky Old Vic Tunnels. However I feel I have captured the skill and athleticism of the performer and I love the looks on the faces of those watching…everyone was quite rightly amazed by this guy’s performance.

Blue Path: I was out and about enjoying a November walk along the River Thames when I nipped across the road to Somerset House. You wouldn’t get a picture like this at 6pm on a Summers night, but you will at 6pm in the Winter! I guess I’m saying just because it’s dark doesn’t mean that London doesn’t come alive!

St Patrick’s Day: March the 17 is of course the day when the world turns green! This fun picture was shot at the Willesden St Patrick’s Day Parade…

In 2012 I plan on really upping the pace and  on visiting more places, getting myself out on many, many more adventures. Even though I have done a fair bit in 2011, next year I’m gonna go crazy…
