Madame Tussauds The Marvel Superheroes Have Arrived

Madame Tussauds The Marvel Superheroes Have Arrived

Madame Tussauds is a London Tourist attraction that I first visited when I was 13 years old, which is such a long, long time ago. I can still remember being gob smacked by how realistic those wax figurines looked. They looked so real, too real…I can even remember poking a few of those famous faces, just to make sure they hadn’t given up the day job and were  not  now working as full time tourist attractions.

Fast forward almost three decades and here I was invited to the Press Preview Event last night, Saturday 19th June for a private tour of Madame Tussauds and a look at  their new Marvel Super Heroes 4D experience that  they have recently unveiled. And believe me this new addition to Madame Tussauds, which is already one of London,’s oldest and most popular tourist attractions, is something very special.

The evening ended with the 9 minute Marvel Super Heroes 4D movie. And what can I say…wow is a good place to start. I if you thought 3D was good, wait until you experience 4D, it takes things onto a whole new level. Watching the Marvel Super Heroes team in action  as they went about their business saving  London, was a breathtaking experience. To actually feel the Incredible Hulks snot  hit  my face and to almost jump out of my seat when that Routmaster Bus came hurtling towards me from the screen is unbelievable.

It was a real buzz watching some of my all time favourite Super Heroes, Spider man, Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, Capitan America, Iron Man and my personal favourite Ms Marvel battling against Dr Doom outside Buckingham Palace and even right outside the building that we were sitting in watching it. 4D give you not only an amazing visual experience, but a fantastic sensory experience as well and for me this is truly what makes it cutting edge. London was realistically brought to life and at times it felt like I really was in the movie, right next to those Super Heroes as they battled to stop Dr Doom from destroying the world capital of cool, London.

This latest addition to Madame Tussauds, the Marvel Super Heroes 4D experience is something that both myself and my African Princess were truly amazed and excited by. I had heard it was going to be good, so I laid off the alcohol before I went in. I just wish I could have said the same about those delicious chocolate covered marshmallows and strawberries, oh boy they were just too dam tasty.

There is of course a lot more to Madame Tussauds than the Marvel Super Heroes. It may have been almost 30 years since my last visit, but even to this day I’m still amazed by how realistic those famous wax models look. Just last week, I was wandering down by Buckingham Palace, when the police stopped people from walking past the Palace. A few minutes later the limo with the Queen and Prince Philip arrived and when they drove past me, I was only about 4 feet away from them…I got a good look of both of them close up and believe me those wax dummies in Tussauds are the spitting image of them!

Scream, which is I suppose what you would call an add on attraction in Tussauds…it is a dark sinister place full of dead bodies, instruments of torture and crazy people jumping out at you from hidden corncers…I liked this. We had just entered scream when the couple in front stopped dead in their tracks. They were both trying to get the other one to go first, until the two big chickens decided to let someone else go first…that someone else was of course me. Lets just say my African Princess had suddenly ended up standing behind me, clinging on  like a frightened little kid. Scream is most certainly not for the faint hearted, squeamish or those afraid of the dark, but never the less it’s good fun..!

Madame Tussauds by all accounts was already one of London’s most popular and best tourist attractions before the Marvel Super Heroes 4D experience went live. It has just got a hell of lot better and that really is saying something..!
