London Picture of the Day – Intimidating Room In the Paddock
On Saturday afternoon I enjoyed visit to a secret World War II bunker codenamed the Paddock, which is located in the Neasden area of North West London. You would never know it was there – more on Churchill’s Reserve War time bunker at a later date!
Located 40 feet below surface level there was one room inside the bunker that quite frankly spooked me… it really did! I let everyone else on the tour leave the long narrow room so I could snap a few pictures. The dimly lit, decrepit room was furnished with with one well used 1970′s office chair, which was situated near the far end – far away from the door!
At the beginning of the tour, the guide told us that we would have to use our imagination to get a feel for what the bunker was like during War times – he wasn’t joking! All alone, in the that long narrow room, my imagination started to run riot! I thought of secret integrations taking place in the name of her Majesty’s Government… was there blood splatters on the walls and floor, or was that my imagination?
