London Is Cool Read All Over The World
London Is Cool is a blog about life in London, according to me, William K Wallace, along with some personal observations on whatever is on my mind. I would say my style of writing is very personal and opinionated, and I don’t take any prisoners! I would also like to think I’m very passionate about blogging and London life.
I know I’m not the greatest writer in the world. I don’t sit with a dictionary in front of me trying to find impressive words to tell my story. I occasionally use the F word when I feel it is justified. I recently had a conversation with another London blogger who said that I should cut out the F word totally because it could limit my invites to nice free events. My answer was London Is Cool, isn’t about worrying about getting invited to free events…FUCK THAT! Anyway if Gordon Ramsay can get away it on television why cant I. I like to keep it real…
What truly amazes me is how big the world of blogging has become, it seems that every man, woman, child and I have even seen a few cats and dogs that have their own blogs… fucking ridiculous! My Staffie Mable was begging me the other day to give her a shot of my laptop so she could launch her own blog about her viewpoint on life in London through the eyes of a crazy dog. I couldn’t handle the competition so I had to break her little heart and say no! Does anybody really need to read about the latest cat she chased or the squirrel she failed to catch…I think not!
I have to be honest and say I’m hooked, no make that addicted to blogging. I get a real buzz from it. And thankfully the readership of London Is Cool, keeps on growing and growing. My journey so far hasn’t been like a rocket ship to the moon. More like a slow stroll up Bennachie! Meaning London Is Cool has gradually become more popular, it is has maybe been a slow journey increasing the readership of this blog, but one thing it has been so far is fun.
Like most bloggers out there I like to keep an eye on my blogs statistics. There is no point in blogging if nobody reads it. And one thing that fills my little heart with joy is the fact that each and every month since London Is Cool has been up and running, I have grown a little bit bigger. My readership has increased, my Google PR has went up, my Alexa Rank has grown and I haven’t done anything special apart from write. I barely know SEO. I watched a couple of Youtube videos on SEO for the first time the other night, which taught me few invaluable tips that I shall be implementing to make sure this blog about life in London, finds its way out of the haystack!
From the very first day I started blogging I have heard about how important SEO, Google PR and Alexa Rank is and how people spend hours every day obsessing over it. When I first started out blogging, my goal was to develop my own style, that was my priority. I didn’t give a toss about anything else.
There are millions of blogs out there that are written by people that are clones of each other, they are boring, totally unoriginal – they are just people hoping to make a few dollars from a blog and it shows big time. And another type of blogger that totally bores me are those that wanted to be journalists but couldn’t make the grade – they know who they are, they only say nice things to keep on getting the invites to free events, they are complete sell outs! In fact I spoke to a blogger at an event a few months ago, and he had been invited to a nice launch and he said it was totally overrated and what they were doing was overpriced. I couldn’t understand why he gave them such a glowing review, SELL OUT & FEAR a nasty combination. Fear that if he writes the truth he wont get any-more invites.
One of the most pleasing things for me about blogging is all the different countries where London Is Cool is read – totally amazing. I of course get plenty of visitors and page views from the UK and the USA, which I would expect. It is good to see people from all over Asia, North America and Europe dropping in for a visit. I don’t seem to get too many visitors from Africa, even though Botswana is in the top 25 of nations that visit my blog, hopefully my African Princess was spreading the word when she was back home. Barbados, my home for 9 months not so long ago is another country that makes my top 25, which is good considering it is just a small island. It was also good to see Brazil make it into my top 25, I will one of these days finally make it to Copacabana for a game of beach volleyball…oh yes indeed, I’m sweating just thinking about it.
The top 12 countries for July that visited London Is Cool are as follows:

Right people go spread the news, tell the world that they need to be reading about the adventures of William K Wallace, from the not so famous London Is Cool blog.
