London Bridge Is Maybe Falling Down But It’s Tower Bridge Your Looking For

London always seems to be full of happy and excited tourists. Every which way you turn in central London there are always hordes of tourists enjoying the offerings of this amazing city.

Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Europeans, Africans you name it there will be people from virtually every country in the world on any given day wandering around the Big Smoke on holiday. And who can blame them, there is so much to do and places to visit that only an inbred cave dweller could fail to enjoy a trip to London.

It never ceases to amaze me how confused some tourists get over London’s most famous and iconic bridge, “Tower Bridge” especially Americans. So many of them seem to be amazed that London’s famous bridge yes “Tower Bridge” is not called “London Bridge”.

I wonder if those same confused tourists and this goes especially to the Yanks, if they call “Brooklyn Bridge” in New York, “The New York Bridge”. It makes sense it’s a bridge in New York.

Here’s a wee bit of trivia for you all, Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883 and Tower Bridge was completed in 1894. It takes about 20 minutes to walk across New York’s iconic Bridge and about 2 minutes to walk across London’s just as famous bridge. When I finally make it too NY one thing I gotta do is walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and back again, I can imagine the views are amazing.

I was wandering across the Millennium Bridge yesterday, the bridge that got destroyed by Fenrir Greyback and a group of Death Eaters in the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie, when it almost got destroyed for real. An over excited American Girl who weighed about 2 tons started jumping up and down with excitement on the bridge when she seen Tower Bridge in the distance. “Look, look its London Bridge, whoopee….” Her boyfriend tried to explain to her it’s not called London Bridge though, “yes it is, no it’s not, yes it is, no it’s not….” NO IT’S NOT!

Millennium Bridge was shaking like crazy every step the big girl took, I got out of their quick as hell, because if she started jumping up and down again I could have been swimming in the filthy water of the River Thames. And that is something the fish don’t even want to do!

My advice to all tourists and especially my American friends is go visit both bridges, they are both as equally famous I suppose. But one of them isn’t as quite as pretty as the other one. Why not start off at London Bridge and then walk along the bank of the River Thames until you reach Tower Bridge, it is a nice wee walk and you get to see both bridges…..
