Killing Time At The Docs In North West London
I had the fun and joys of a Doctors appointment in the Big Smoke this morning, which is situation that would try anybodies patience. You know how it goes, you turn up for your appointment on time, but you have to wait for 60 minutes before its your turn. That’s life I suppose , I guess there are lots more pressing cases than mine.
It was kinda fun doing a bit of people watching, whilst I sat in the doctors surgery patiently waiting my turn. It sure was the united nations of the world in this packed waiting room, in the North West of London. I counted at least 10 different nationalities.
The waiting room seemed to be packed wall to wall with mothers and their ill children. In fact it was mainly babies and young kids, and they all had seemed to have one thing in common. Which was that they were all coughing like crazy. You didn’t need to be a clairvoyant to know why they were waiting to see the doc.
I maybe didn’t have a cold when I walked into that waiting room, but the chances of having one by the time I walked out are pretty dam high. Coughing and sputtering poor wee babies and kids everywhere. I wish I had one of those face masks that you see those rather strange looking Japanese tourists wearing all the time in London. Are those masks to save them from us or us from them?
Today I discovered after all these years, why men have such a fondness for boobs. A Polish woman who was sitting straight in front of my line of vision was breast feeding her baby son. I couldn’t help but notice his tiny hands holding on to her boob as he had his lunch. I’m pretty sure that’s where our desire to get our hands and more on to boobs begins.
Killing time at the docs is a new experience for me compared to back home in Scotland, I have never seen a queue like this at a doctors surgery in my life or had to wait so long to be seen. It sure was crazy. But that’s London life for you. It seems that this coldish snowyish spell is too much for the young ones of London.
