Kilburn Festive 2010 | Latin America Vibe Is Coming To Town
Kilburn in Northwest London is the area that I currently call home. It is a part of London that is a little bit rough around the edges, but never the less it is an up and coming area that has a fairly good feel and buzz to it. I guess you could say I like it in Kilburn.
Kilburn has it all, including loads of bars and bookies, and some more bars and bookies and… in fact I have never lived in an area with so many bookies in it. It must have something to do with it’s strong Irish connections. There is of course a lot more to this vibrant area than boozers and bookies, that was just my sense of humour kicking in. There are plenty of café’s, restaurant’s, shops and it is of course home to the famed Tricycle Theatre and the Cock Tavern Theatre, which is rapidly gaining a good reputation for its fringe type shows.
Just like many other areas all over London, Kilburn holds its own annual summer festival. This year the Kilburn Festival is called Fiesta 2010 and to celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of the local community they are gong to be focussing on the Latin Americans this year, last year was the turn of the Irish and perhaps next year they could do a Scottish one, now that would be a good idea.
The Kilburn Festival runs from 6-11 of July and will feature a variety of events, which can be viewed on the Festival Web Site. The Festival or I should maybe say the Fiesta comes to climax on Sunday 11, at Grange Park, where there will be a big stage, featuring live music and dance from the best of the local talent. Also at Grange Park will be the new Dance Bus, Kilburn Beach which sounds like fun, and a whole array of stalls.
Be there or be square…festivals are all about getting out there and enjoying yourself and being a part of the local community. Having fun and putting a smile on your face doesn’t hurt so get yourself along to some of the many fantastic events that are happening as part of the Kilburn Festival 2010…
