Just Another Dam Rainy Day In London – Blast From The Past

Summer time in London. Rain, rain and more rain is the story so far this summer. Those nice days when the sun is shinning and the air is warm have been all to rare this year. And as much as I try not let the rain bother me, sometimes I can’t help but get a little bit pissed off by it

As I look out my window the rain is falling … when I was out on the road this morning I got soaked to the skin and when I was on the road this afternoon I only ended up slightly damp … that is the kinda pattern I don’t like!

Just what do you do on a rainy day in London … thankfully this amazing city has plenty of things to do for those who are fed up hiding from the rain, and especially tourists who are only hear for a short period of time. Don’t let the rain grind you down, don’t let the rain laugh at you; my motto is to laugh back at the bastard … 10 Things To Do On A Rainy Day In London.

This weekend is of course the August bank holiday, which can only mean one thing in London, it is Carnival time … Notting Hill Carnival will be bringing some sunshine to London Town, whether its lashing down with rain or if the sun is shining bright. I know carnival is not everyone’s cup of tea – the noise, crowds and the mayhem are too much for some people. However I love it and this year will be my third visit…

For carnival virgins I would recommend going to the Children’s Carnival on the Sunday, which is a lot quieter and tamer than Monday’s event. And I better not forget to mention the Steel Band competition on Saturday evening which is always great fun. To get you in the mood for carnival you can find a few pictures I took right here, Pictures From Notting Hill Carnival 2010 Part I and Pictures From Notting Hill Carnival 2010 Part II.

The pictures I’m featuring today, are once again a Blast From the Past and were taking during the 10 months I spent living in Barbados. A beautiful lunch, which consisted of a fully loaded hot dog, can of Heineken and a Mauby, which was enjoyed at Oistins, right next to the Caribbean Sea. And the bottom picture was captured at a fantastic beauty spot next to Brighton Beach and once again overlooking the Caribbean Sea … a truly romantic spot.

Just another rainy day in London, doesn’t have to be the end of the world … even though it almost feels like it!

  1. I don’t like the rain. I lived in Tillamook Oregon when I was growing up and the average rainfall per years was around 95 inches. That’s a lot of flipping rain.

Now your last two pictures are more like it.

Have a terrific day and weekend. :)
