I go to London on holiday quite a bit, being a transport buff I spend a lot of time in non touristy places (Forest Gate, Brixton, Croydon etc). I find that I can survive quite cheaply, Southern Fried Chicken places (But not KFC) are exceptionally good value, as are Wetherspoons pubs. The oyster card works out cheap if you only use buses (and trams), £4,20 for 24 hours travel (04:30 - 04:29 the next day). My brother works for a well known bakery and tells me that the supermarket own brand bread is exactly the same loaf as the more expensive stuff. Enjoyed your blog. When i moved to America I was surprised at how much cheaper it is to live here than in Canada and Florida is one of the the most expensive states to live in.
