I Miss The Sun, Sand, Sea, Sunsets and Boogie Boarding
Last night over a few beers in a fantastic London pub, which I refuse to name, because it is truly a hidden gem of a place – the lager is as good as it gets, its a fantastically comfortable place to unwind, it is never ram packed full of people and there is more…the jukebox box is full of a wonderful mixture of sounds. Right where was I?
Let me get back on track, last night over a few beers my friend asked me what are the three things you miss most about life in Barbados. Because my African Princess might read this, I can’t say the girls and because I’m a civilised kinda guy, I won’t say ice cold Banks beer or Mount Gay rum. Dam there are three things are already!
I guess in all seriousness the three things I miss most about life on the beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados are all created by nature – the work of god, well almost!
1. I truly miss the beaches and everything that goes with them, the sun, sand, sea and pretty girls, but none are as pretty as my African Princess! After a hard days work or at the weekend, the beach was the place I needed to be at. There were so many to choose from including Crane Beach, Miami Beach, Silver Sands, Rockley, Bottom Bay, Foul Bay, Maxwell Beach to name but a few. The cool water, the white sands and the warm sun were an unbeatable combination and the great thing about Barbados is that the beaches are never crazily busy like they get in places such as Spain, Greece and Turkey.
2. Watching those amazing sunsets setting over the Caribbean Sea is a wondrous site that I truly miss. There is nothing quite like plonking yourself down at a beauty spot or on the beach in Barbados and watching the sun slowly set. There was a fantastic beauty spot I use to go to quite close to Miami Beach, which was situated right on the edge of the cliffs where the views were amazing.
3. Boogie Boarding with Mable my Staffie, sad but true, but I use to love heading down to Silver Sands or Long Beach and having that crazy dog try to attack the boogie board as I blasted along in the water. In the end I managed to train her to go fetch my board and bring it back to me when I went flying off it…such a clever little dog.
I will get back to Barbados for a month or two one of these days, just as soon as I have my life at the place I want and know it is going to be at!

This is a fabulous post! I can certainly see why you’d miss the place. It was lovely meeting up with you and the African Princess the other night – we should get together one day for a drink! Perhaps I can convince Mister Emm to come along.

It was fun…and I’m sure we all could arrange something sometime in the not too distant future.
There is also quite a few things I don’t miss about Barbados, including traffic jams, the crazy cost of living and a few other things…
I love staffies – they’re such fantastic dogs when they’re properly trained. And come on, spill the beans on the pub!

It takes a bit of time and effort to train them, but once you have they are amazing dogs that are smarter than they seem! So many people out there have them as some sort of status symbol, which saddens me big time, cause they are unbelievable friendly and good dogs.
Some things are best kept a secret, but cause I’m a nice and fair kinda guy. It is in the north of London somewhere….
