Hell’s Half Acre At The Old Vic Tunnels

Hell’s Half Acre At The Old Vic Tunnels

Hell’s Half Acre comes to the Old Vic Tunnels from the 12 – 17 October 2010. This ground breaking art event, is being held in the warren of tunnels that were recently discovered deep beneath Waterloo station, and are quite littreally going to be turned into hell, as dreamt up by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri.

The Lazarides Gallery and the Old Vic Tunnels, will be presenting a series of art installations by a bunch of young and cool artists in the maze of tunnels, which were once home to British Rail storage facilities. This is my kind of art event, where the viewer has the chance to interact with the artwork and really get into the whole vibe of the show.

Dante’s nine circles of hell will be brought to life, by the artists who will provide their own interpretation, with freedom to reference both Purgatorio and Paradiso from the trilogy of The Divine Comedy. The works exhibited will include paintings, sculptures, video, performance and mixed media installations.

Steve Lazarides, who is the owner of Lazarides Gallery, said – Hell’s Half Acre is a subterranean journey into hell as envisaged by a group of young, cutting edge artists. It’s a vision of our hellish society under coalition rule, inspired by Dante’s Inferno.”

The tickets for Hell’s Half Acre are free, but from what I can gather it is going to be a sell out. The Lazarides Gallery have recently completed sell out shows in Los Angeles and Miami, so if you wanna be there book your tickets online NOW!

Believe me this is one show cool show that you don’t want to miss out on…
