Gay Pride Takes Over London

Gay Pride Takes Over London

I had  just came out of Leicester Square tube station and I was standing waiting on my estranged wife to go and hang out with her for a couple of hours. When it dawned on me that it was the London Gay Pride event. Every man, woman and there dog seemed to be gay!

As soon as I came out of the station, my eyes were greeted by the sight of two little gay guys who were almost naked and were walking down the road holding the hands of a 6 foot transsexual. I quickly stood with my back against the wall, as I waited on my always late wife, something’s never change in life!

Whilst standing with my back firmly against the wall, I noticed a transsexual eyeing me up and smiling at me. I wouldn’t have minded too much if she didn’t have bigger and more muscely arms than me and I didn’t think the dress suited her too much! Had I become a transsexual  magnet, I wasn’t about to hang around to find out!

Once my wife arrived only 20 minutes late, which is I suppose early for her, we headed over to the Cabaret stage at Leicester square, to see what the Gay Pride London event was all about. It was a first for me, and before any of my friends, family, girlfriend and Mayor Boris start to worry, I haven’t come bolting out of the closet! I have never been in it, apart from with a girl at work a long time ago, but that is another story!

We arrived at Leicester Square just in time to see the talented Melissa Tottenham, who is Britain’s best Madonna impersonator. Who was then followed by the amazing Hurly Burlys Burlesque Troupe. They are a very talented bunch of girls and I shall be paying a visit to one of there shows in London in the near future.

This was my first experience of a London Gay Pride event, in fact it was my first visit to any gay event anywhere in the world. It was good to see that Leicester Square wasn’t just full of gays, lesbians, transsexuals and Chihuahuas, but lots of straight people showing there support for this fun event. I just wish I had made in time to see the parade, because I feel that it would have been an interesting experience!

Watching the Hurly Burlys and the warm London weather made me kind of thirsty for some ice cold lager, so we headed over to Carnaby Street, but it is was packed and I would have died of thirst by the time I queued to get the drinks. So we toddled along to one of my favorite bars in central London, the Jewel to reminisce about London Gay Pride day.

A great travel carnival that I would recommend you all having a wee look at is the Anywhere, Everywhere Travel Blog Carnival

I’ve also not been to a Gay Pride event before but I would love to attend! Luckily I am a girl and naturally not as hung up on my sexuality as a man!

They have a similar event here in Florida at Key West and I personally have no desire to ever attend as I hear it is crazy and full of very strange people!
Although the party type people seem to enjoy it and that is a good thing for them:)

London pride is an amazing day and it’s fab to see a straight blogger giving it some publicity.
