Free West End Musical Extravaganza

Free West End Musical Extravaganza

A West End Musical extravaganza is happening this coming weekend, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 at Leicester Square in Central London. On a huge  open air stage London’s top musical stars will be performing live segments from most of the top shows that are currently in production in London’s West End. And it is free…

I was fortunate enough to stumble upon last years event by total chance and I can honestly say that it was an amazing show. In fact it is hard to believe that events like this are free. For free you are getting the opportunity to see performances from the best musical stars currently appearing on stage in London,  from all the top shows.

For me one of the great things about West End Live is that it gives you a real taste of loads of different shows and then if you like the vibe of a particular show , you can then go along to see it at a later date safe in the knowledge that you are probably going to like it. There is nothing worst than paying £50 a head and going along to a theatre show and it isn’t your cup of tea…man that is painful…really fucking painful!

Saturday’s event  will include performances from the following shows-

  • We Will Rock You
  • All the Fun of the Fair
  • Stomp, Billy Elliot
  • Chicago
  • Love Never Dies
  • Hair
  • Brazil Brazil
  • Oliver
  • Jersey Boys
  • Big Dance
  • Wicked
  • Mamma Mia,
  • Avenue Q
  • Grease
  • Sister Act
  • LGMC
  • Thriller LIVE

Sundays event  will include performances from the following shows-

  • Stomp
  • Legally Blonde
  • Big Dance
  • 1916 The Musical
  • Dover Street
  • Into the Woods
  • Priscilla
  • TapDogs
  • Mamma Mia
  • The Fantasticks
  • Thriller LIVE
  • Disney’s The Lion King
  • Burn the floor
  • West End Gospel Choir

What an amazing line up that is. I have personally seen Grease, Lion King, Chicago and Mamma Mia and fantastic shows they are all too. I’m especially looking forward to getting the chance to have a wee peek at some of the newer musicals out there and see whether they cut it in my mind and get me interested enough to want to go and see the whole show.

I have been to quite a few West End shows over the years and as good as they are they sure as hell aint cheap! And believe me there will be thousands of people crawling out of the woodwork this weekend to take advantage of such a fantastic free live music event. In fact over 250,000 people attended  last years event, so get yourself along nice and early because its gonna be busy…real busy.
