Elephants Following Me All Over London
I was out and about yesterday afternoon in Central London, not going anywhere in particular…I was just walking around seeing where nose my would lead me. I got kinda lost once again…well no doubt about it, I was well and truly lost.
I ended up down some posh street, where the shop assistant was bowing like crazy to her Japanese customers as they got into their chauffeur driven Limousine. How the other half like eh, I bet Ms Shop assistant wouldn’t have even opened the fucking door for me. Just as I was trying to figure out where the hell I was, a couple of hot girls that looked more ghetto than ghetto appeared in front of me, looking like they had just walked straight off a rap video shoot. I thought they must have taken a wrong turning to be on a street like this. Oxford Street is that a way…They then proceeded to walk into some designer shop, looking like they were regulars.
Somehow I ended up down beside the Ritz Hotel, I did think about going in for some afternoon tea and cakes, but I wasn’t dressed for the occasion…At last I knew where I was…not that I’m a regular at the Ritz, well not yet I aint.
I nipped into Green Park for some rest and relaxation from the maddening crowds of central London and what did I find but herds of brightly coloured Indian elephants roaming around. WTF…I had herd so much about these wild beasts and finally I had stumbled upon them. I couldn’t resist saying hello to them and grabbing a few pictures.
There are 258 of these brightly painted elephants all over central London, which are part of a campaign to raise funding and awareness to help to do more to protect the endangered Indian Elephant. This beautiful beast is facing extinction and if something proactive isn’t done and I mean done now the Indian Elephant could become extinct. A worthy cause and I hope that most of the money raised goes to helping the elephants rather than lining the pockets of so called charity executives…!
As I was heading over to Trafalgar Square I saw the aftermath of another blind cyclist who had just run over a female pedestrian on Horse Guards Road…He should have been banged up in the back of a cop van and taken down the cop shop and read the riot act. Instead of just having his details taken and been allowed to ride off into the sunset.
I was heading over to Trafalgar Square to see the much talked about latest piece of so called art that is sitting on top of the Forth Plinth, Nelsons Ship in a bottle by Nigerian artist, Yinka Shnibare. Just as I walked through Admiralty Arch I came across more of those colourful elephants sitting on the round about at Trafalgar Square. They had been following me… I wanted to take one home with me, but I’m not too sure how good they are at climbing stairs and whether they are house trained or not…!

What a brill post. I really love these little elephants!! You are so right about cyclists too. I would never wish harm upon them but have often found them to be complete and utter idiots cycling on pavements, not stopping at red lights and so the list goes on. I wish the police would fine them more.

Nice! The sculptured elephants were created beautifully.
This cause to protect the endangered species is worth emulating.

Elephants! A friend and I tried to find them all but gave up pretty quickly because there was just so many!
One time (West End Live weekend) they had them all lined up on the road that approaches Leicester Square (near the Prince of Wales theatre) and they looked great! It was a shame it was raining cos I think if it had been sunny it would have looked even prettier all those Elephants in a row!
I think this elephants arrived from Amsterdam as a part of exposition – we had them all over in spring and summer
