Down But Not Out In London | My Laptop Tried To Drive Me Insane
I woke up on Sunday morning with an insane hangover courtesy of The Creators Project event. My head was pounding like crazy. And when I switched on my laptop and it hadn’t miraculous cured itself of the hard drive problem from the night before. My head felt like it was going to well and truly explode.
It was 8.30am, and I needed to get things sorted out. My pounding head would soon go away, but my laptop problem would need some serious work done on it, if the best blog in all of London and one of the worlds best was going to be back in action anytime soon.. After a long cold shower, I kind of felt like I was alive again. So I headed down Rosie’s Cafe on Kilburn High Road for the Builders Breakfast and copious amounts of tea and fresh orange juice. After devouring the delicious mountain of food I was back in the land of the living.
I eventually found an internet cafe, that was open. After a bit of research on Google – it was very likely that my problem was going to require the re-installation of Windows and quite possible a new hard drive. I was fucked. My disks for my Toshiba laptop, are still in Barbados. I needed professional help.
I wandered down to the guy who unlocked my mobile phone the other day to see if he fixed laptops. No such luck, but he gave me a number for friends of his in Cricklewood that he said were very good and would be able to fix my problem. A quick call and I was off on the bus flying up my favorite street name in London, Shoot-up-hill, to Link-U Computers.
I didn’t have a clue as to where to get off the bus, but the loud speaker said next stop Cricklewood Lane, which was just where I needed to be.
I explained my problem to the team at Link-U they checked things out and explained what I knew already that it would most likely require the res-installation of windows and possible a new hard drive. We agreed price for both, and they said they would try and get it done by the end of the day. I left the shop with my mind at ease because it was obvious that these guys knew there stuff, well they seemed to. London Is Cool the world renowned blog would soon be back up and running. I was down but not out in London.
I gave them a call and there was bad news…the hard drive was corrupted and beyond repair and they didn’t have a 120gb replacement hard drive, but they had installed 250gb one instead and it would cost more…oh no! I needn’t have worried though, because it was only 5 pounds more, I was a very happy blogger. That’s the sort of customer service I like and appreciate. I could hardly believe that my laptop was fixed and working again in the same day.
My laptop is now back up and running, in fact it is now running better than ever. Having my hard drive mess up was in fact a blessing in disguise. If you ever have computer problems, I can honestly say that Link-U Computers in Cricklewood are most definitely a place that you can rely on to get you back up and running. I know from personal experience how much pain that having your computer go down can cause. Believe me these guys are very, very good…
