Doughnuts, Ice cream And Mojitos Make The World Go Around

Doughnuts, Ice cream And Mojitos Make The World Go Around

Life in London can be so sweet sometimes…I live a fairly healthy lifestyle most of the time, which includes plenty of exercise, along with an abundance of fruit and vegetables. I don’t eat junk food very often and I of course only drink alcohol in moderation. However life would be so fucking boring if I never occasionally strayed from the healthy path and ate those things that are oh so bad for me and drank booze from time to time.

Sunday was one of those days, when I had plenty of exercise, as well eating and dranking plenty of things that are meant to be bad for me. The day started off with some bedroom exercise if you know what I mean. My African Princess was working in the afternoon and the sun was shinning, which was a good enough reason to get myself out and about for some fresh air, if fresh air exists in London…more like pollution filled air!

I took the bus over to Camden Town, I could have walked it but I was going to be walking for hours so I took the smart option. First port of call was Marine Ices on Chalk Farm Road. The ice cream here is as good as it gets, absolutely delicious. I cant go to Camden and not visit this gem of an Italian ice cream shop. I had the £.3.50 tub with Rum & Raisin and Chocolate Chip, which wasn’t cheap, but hell it was a rare treat, which was worth every penny.

After a few hours wandering around Camden Town – the canal, the streets and the markets. I couldn’t resist going  to Stables Market before I headed over to Primrose Hill for some chilling out time before I went  home. I would normally avoid Stables Market like the plague, it was fucking heaving with people and most of the stuff they sell in there is over priced junk.

There was a very good reason for me entering into hell, or I should say Stables Market…it was for doughnuts…not any old doughnuts, but for 4 cinnamon flavoured doughnuts for 2 quid from a place aptly named the Doughnut Café…these little things are the business and if you don’t have a heart attack once you have demolished 4 of these things, you have healthy heart.

The market was wall to wall people, it was jam fucking packed…this place made Oxford Street seem quiet! Before I escaped from Hell, I popped into The Cuban for a couple of Mojitos, and even though I waited about 20 minutes to get served and I felt like I had been robbed when I paid for them, they tasted real good. Why is it none of the staff ever smile in this place, such long faces and unhappy looking people!

Now that’s what I call an unhealthy afternoon of eating and drinking, and it didn’t end there. I then grabbed myself 4 bottles of Sol and a packet of salted peanuts for lazing around at Primrose Hill. What a perfect end to the day. The sun was shining, the lager was ice cold and I had one of the best views in all of London, the only thing missing was my African Princess.

Sometimes in life you need to pig out and enjoy things that are bad for you. I don’t know how many calories I consumed by eating the double tub of ice cream, 4 doughnuts, nuts and drinking 2 mojitos and 4 bottles of Sol, but quite frankly I couldn’t give a dam! I must have walked at least 15 miles along the canal, through the streets of Camden Town and around Primrose Hill during my wanderings, so I guess I earned it. Sometimes life in London is so sweet…
