Death Wish London Pedestrians

Death Wish London Pedestrians

In the past I have ever so slightly criticised London’s wonderful cyclists, but I have never said anything that wasn’t true. Quite simply they are a nightmare. I have also made a few negative comments concerning London’s don’t know or care what the rules of the road are motorists, they are just as bad as the cyclists. Many drivers also blatantly ignore the rules of the road just as much as cyclists do!

It seems that some London pedestrians are just as stupid and ignorant as some of those crazy cyclists and motorists. I would go as far as saying that some pedestrians quite frankly have a death wish. That’s the only logical explanation that I can think of.

During the course of this week I have witnessed five occasions when pedestrians treated busy roads like they were deserted country lanes. It was a miracle that some of them never ended up in the back of an ambulance seriously injured or even wound up dead. The worst thing is that they were all grown adults, not young don’t know any better children.

Today as I stood patiently at the pedestrian crossing wating for the green man to start flashing, I watched a total idiot walk into the middle of fast moving traffic. Once the traffic cleared he proceeded to walk down the middle of the road lane, like he was a motorist that forgot his car. I was going to tell him he was on the wrong side of the road, but he looked like a lunatic. When cars started to come towards the fool, he seemed kind of reluctant to move on to the pavement. I don’t know but maybe the country he originally came from they do things like that!

Yesterday afternoon on Kilburn High Road I watched a Middle Eastern woman almost run in front of a  car as she dashed across the  road to catch a bus. If that wasn’t  bad enough she was pushing a pram with a young child in it. You guessed it she missed the bus anyway.

On Tuesday morning I was sitting on a bus in amazement as I watched an old woman with a walking stick try to speed across the road before the traffic reached her. She was walking at tortoise speed, and had only walked about 1 meter from the pavement when the bus reached her. Luckily the bus driver was more alert than her. The old woman could have walked a short distance down the road and used the pedestrian crossing.

It is amazing what the prospect of a parking ticket will do to some people. I watched an Indian guy that had illegally parked down a side street off Kilburn High Road on Monday morning, he came bolting out the bank and it was miracle that he never got hit by a bus as he ran across the road.

The craziest sight I have seen in a long time was on Sunday afternoon. An old Irish guy, in one of those motorised wheelchairs was sitting at the pedestrian crossing like you do. When he noticed  a small gap in the flow of the traffic, I personally didn’t even think about moving. But the old Irishman put his wheelchair into top gear and sped across the road. I thought WTF and wondered how he made to such a ripe old age, maybe he was under the influence of too much Guinness or something.

I cant understand why people put their own life’s or children’s life’s at risk to catch a bus, get the next one. Or why somebody would put there life on the line because they were about to get a parking ticket. Park where you are meant to in the first place. As far as old people are concerned they are always complaining about something, they maybe need to go and complain about themselves for a change.

I remember once when I was a young loon back home in Scotland, I ran in front of speeding car in the pouring rain. The car actually nearly toppled over in the process of avoiding me. It was my lucky day as I narrowly avoided death. I can still remember the incident as clear as day, just  like it  happened yesterday.

The car was driven by a local hoodlum who  gave me a stern lecture. It maybe happened almost 30 years ago, but it taught me a life long lesson about the dangers of running in front of fast moving cars. My life is worth far more than rushing to get across a road, for whatever reason and so is everybody else’s life.
