Crazy Coffins London Exhibition – No Thanks!
Only two things are certain in life… one, we have to pay taxes and two, death comes to us all. I personally don’t waste any time procrastinating over the fact one day I will die… Life is for living… life is for the living!
So… there I was at the Southbank Centre on Saturday afternoon taking a wee wander around the Crazy Coffins exhibition that was part of the Death: Festival For the Living wondering why people would choose to be buried or cremated in such a wacky coffin. There was a skip, plane, skateboard, ballet shoe, guitar, train carraige and even a sled coffin on display… People commission crazy coffins long before they die, or family members sometimes decide that the bereaved would have liked something different! And I guess if it makes people happy…why not!
The Exhibition featured a selection of replica bespoke unusual coffins from the UK and Ghana from a company that has been making them since 1990. I’m sure they can meet every request. What about a steel pole for the Pole Dancer who lives down the street from me…that is maybe a step too far!
Crazy Coffins – Death Festival For the Living

After looking at the selection of ‘Crazy Coffins’ on display all I know is that I want a very plain and simple coffin… which is most unlike me in real life, but I want to leave earth in a humble manner!

Does the train do first class?
If not, I’d take the plane!
Henry I think the Northern Belle is first class and more. The coffin would probably be cheaper than travelling on it…
I must get my ex the skip.
Bev, I’m sure he deserves a skip! Maybe send him one as birthday present or something…
Great Idea for a exhibition.
i think there is a new trend for having these sorts of custom made coffins. I suppose it might at least put a smile on someones face on the day.
Coffins are so impersonal and so I think this is a lovely special touch.
Love London, I can see how a crazy coffin would bring a smile to people’s faces. Each to their own…
