Cheap London Day Trips | Here I Come Southend-on-Sea
I can almost smell the salty sea air and feel the sand between my toes…my London escape plan has worked out very nicely indeed. Thanks to the masters of the Universe Google, I have discovered that Oyster card are offering a fantastic deal on day trips from London to a variety of Locations. Oh yes indeed there are some serious saving to be made.
Starting from just 5 quid…that’s right a measly £5 up to a maximum of £20 depending on where you wanna go. A variety of locations are on offer including Brighton, Eastbourne, Windsor, Cambridge, Oxford, Liverpool and Southampton to name but a few. But for some reason Southend-on-Sea was calling my name, so that’s where I’m going to go. Please note this offer is only open to Oyster Card and Freedom pass holders. If you don’t have a Oyster card and you live in London or are a tourist…you quite simply should have one because this little piece of plastic will save you money.
A quick check of the BBC weather forecast…I know I shouldn’t really trust them, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt…again! The forecast for Southend-on-Sea for this weekend is looking good and best of all the train will get me there in 52 minutes. That is what I like to hear, a travelling time of under an hour and I will be smelling some splendid sea air…oh boy I cant wait.
I must admit I don’t know too much about Southend-on-Sea but I do know that it has 7 miles of some of the best and cleanest beaches in England. Three Blue Flags and seven Quality Coast Awards are testimony to how well they look after things in that neck of the woods. I cant wait to feel that cool water on my skin…oh yes indeed.
I’m sure Southend-on-Sea on sea has a lot to offer as a destination, but unashamedly I don’t plan on seeing anything but the sea and beaches. All I’m gonna be doing is some serious chilling out and taking things real easy. The most strenuous thing I plan on doing is lying there while my African Princess rubs sun tan lotion all over my body…and going for the odd wee dip in the sea. And I guess I should help my girl to build a sandcastle or two…Oh I do like to beside the seaside…
The Oyster Card, day trips deal is available from Saturday 26 June to Sunday 25 July 2010 and to find out the full details for this superb money saving offer visit Days Out Guide.
