Blind As Bats London Bus drivers
Red means danger, red means stop, but for many London bus drivers who are either blind as a bat or perhaps colour blind, I’m not too sure which, it means drive faster! Yesterday morning I observed within the space of 15 minutes at 3 different sets of traffic lights on Kilburn High Road, 3 buses that blatantly drove through red lights.
I’m not too sure if it is part of the training which bus drivers get when they join Metroline Bus Company that they are told if the traffic lights are red, just put your foot on the accelerator and keep on going. If you run someone over or crash into another car, it will be there fault…it is never the bus drivers fault.
The blind as bats London bus drivers I witnessed yesterday are just the tip of the iceberg, If I had nothing better to do than count law breaking clowns driving double decker buses blasting through traffic lights when they should be stopping, the numbers would run into hundreds.
I personally don’t see what the hurry is, lets face facts, buses very rarely run on time in London. There are constant traffic jams, road works and general mayhem on the road that it must be near impossible for them to stick to the timetable. In fact yesterday I noticed 3 number 98 buses arrive at the bus stop at the same time…I kid you not.
If you run a red light in the UK the minimum penalty is £60 and 3 points on your license. This country is seemingly going bust, well I can see a way for the Government to raise a few hundred extra million a year – start fining all those drivers that think it is cool to shoot through red lights. Just think of all those bombs, guns and bullets they could buy for those wars in Iraq and Afghanistan!
I feel it may be a good idea in the aid of public safety for all London bus drivers to be given a thorough eye test. Just keeping things real..!
