A blog about life in London

A Wee Stroll At Hampstead Heath

A Wee Stroll At Hampstead Heath

I have blogged about Hampstead Heath quite a few times… it is a place that I never tire of visiting. I have wandered amongst the trees and through the green open spaces, as well as enjoying the views from Parliament Hill on beautiful sunny days, rainy days, snowy days, in fact in all weather conditions and I’m never disappointed. The fresh air, the calmness and beauty provided by nature make me feel more alive and get me higher than any illegal drug ever could!

Saturday lunchtime I jumped on the overground train and headed back to the Heath to enjoy the fine weather while I can. Every time I visit Hampstead Heath I try to walk down paths I have have never ventured along before. I will always walk along the less busy paths or up secret stairways. I like to feel the earth and grass on my feet, as opposed to the concrete paths! I love feeling like I’m a hundred miles away from the mayhem of the big city… even if it’s only for a few hours!

A Wee Stroll At Hampstead Heath

The final path I walked along at Hampstead Heath miraculously led me to the Southampton Arms – one of the best pubs in London – for a few pints of ale and a delicious piece of pork pie. Sometimes the simple things are all I need in life…

  1. Wonderful photos that capture just how diverse the Heath is. You really can find new corners every time you visit, and I love how easy it is to forget that you’re in London when you hidden in its depths.

  2. Great views from parliament hill. I’ve not been since the Shard was added to the skyline. Hampstead Heath is full of surprises. On one walk on the western fringes I came across the wonderful Pergola and Hill Garden along with an interesting animal enclosure in the nearby Golders Hill Park.

  3. Fabulous photos and I love your snack afterwards. It definitely looks like we’re going to have a green autumn after our wet summer.
