A Visit to Aberdeen Beach In Pictures: The Wandering Scotsman Returns Home
I love life in London, I love living in London – most of the time – however home is where the heart will always lie and Aberdeen is my home city. A city that helped to shape me as a person. The place where my life began! A city that I always look forward to visiting.
I was like an excited child as the plane descended from the skies onto the runway of Aberdeen International Airport or Dyce Airport if your a local! Always on my list of things to do, when I return home are eat loads of rowies, visit Aberdeen beach and catch up with my family and friends.
When you grow up living next to the sea, even a wild cold, harsh sea like the North Sea it willingly becomes part of your soul. How could it not… it chilled by bones for over 40 years.
On a cold December morning I took the African Princess to Aberdeen beach for the first time. I told her to wrap up good. Thankfully… the weather was kind, the infamous North Sea wind wasn’t blowing… in fact it was mild for the time of year. On a different day she would have been crying from the cold!
Three hours at the beach passed too quickly, I wanted to spend longer, but I had other places to be, people to visit and things to do. The fresh air, the sand beneath my feet, the views, the lack of people and sound of the waves were the perfect escape from the mayhem of life in London.
