A London Residence That I Would Rather Stay Out of | Wormwood Scrubs
I was out on my travels yesterday afternoon, when during my journey I walked past a London residence, which I would rather stay out of called Wormwood Scrubs the prison. It is a grim and foreboding looking place from the outside, so I would hate to imagine how bad it is inside.
I couldn’t help but wonder as I walked past the high brick walls, how bad it must feel like to have your freedom taken away from you and be stuck in a prison such as Wormwood Scrubs, which is located the East Acton area of London. It wouldn’t be my idea of an exotic holiday.
There are seemingly around 1300 criminals stuck inside Wormwood Scrubs for crimes that they have committed. Crimes such as murder, rape, assault and stealing and most of them I can imagine hoped to get away with it. I doubt if when they committed there hideous crimes that getting caught was on their minds. They are all too smart to get caught. Of course they are!
Prison is a place where you pay your debt to society for breaking the laws and rules that you need in order to live in a civilised society. But are prisons of the 21st century, really a hard enough punishment or a big enough deterrent to prevent the scum and criminally minded from doing the things that they do. I haven’t personally got the answer to that one.
I know that some people genuinely make mistakes and end up behind bars due to a moment of madness or desperation and truly regret what they did. Such people will never make the same mistake again.
However those scumbags and criminals that are constantly in and out of prison like yo yo’s I don’t understand them. What are they all about, they are obviously not smart enough to succeed in breaking the law. So I guess they must like the company of lots of men. Or maybe it is something to do with those communal showers or perhaps they like sleeping in a single bed with another male above them.
I know from personal experience, having spent a number of Saturday nights in the cells for fighting during my late teens, how it feels to be trapped inside a cell with your freedom taken away from you. It isn’t a good feeling for a normal person.
I know there are plenty of so called tough guys and hard men languishing in prison who will openly tell you it is an easy life. In fact they enjoy it. It’s a crazy fucking life when it is easier to get drugs inside prison that it is on the streets.
Maybe prison and having your freedom taken away is a badge of honour for some men and woman, and it is truly an enjoyable and easy experience for them. But I will tell them something for nothing, it is much more of an enjoyable experience being able to enjoy my woman’s soft sweet body lying next to me every night and be able to go to the park, pub or on holiday whenever the hell I want too. Don’t you think so?
Wormwood Scrubs, looks like what prisons should look like, grim, ugly and foreboding. I just hope the place is just as bad inside as it looks from the outside!
